Company Anniversary – 10 Years Qualitype AG

3rd Innovation Day of GWT-TUD on November 3rd, 2011 in Dresden, Germany
"Software in medical technology - a new challenge" is the main topic of this year’s 3rd innovation day of GWT-TUD, initiated by the recent amendment of medical device law in 2010.

GenoProof® Mixture 1.2 - now compatible with the ABI 3500 Genetic Analyzer
The current version of our validated and renowned software GenoProof® Mixture 1.2 is ready for download on our homepage.
GenoProof® Mixture is an expert system for the analysis of forensic samples and complex DNA mixtures. It covers the entire evaluation process, from the analysis of raw data up to the biostatistics calculation according to ISFG recommendations.
The new version GenoProof® Mixture 1.2 has now expanded by a variety of new features:
- ∗.hid-Files: Additionally to the fsa- file format GenoProof® Mixture now also import the new .hid-files (ABI 3500 Genetic Analyzer).
- FSA-Import: The dialog for the import of .fsa-files supports now the function "Fill Down" (Crtl+D), for setting properties (like test kits) per column.
- Likelihood-Evaluation: In case of allelic dropout GenoProof® Mixture can use the 2p-rule in calculation. ("Interpreting DNA Mixtures. J Forensic Sci. 1997;42(2):213-222.").

Qualitype AG presents: ALLST∗R - The webbased STR Populationdatabase
Allelfrequencies are foundation for all biostatic utilization, based on genetic fragment-length-research.
The recently developed populationdatabase ALLST∗R offers all kinds of needed reference data for scientific areas like DNA-forensics, kinship analysis and moleculary diagnostics.
ALLST∗R contains allelfrequency data for a variety of autosomal STR-markers and populations. Furthermore it offers thorough information on STR-markers, populations and biostatic values and literature references for the user.
Through our webbased database any user can add allelfrequeny data for any marker or population and extend previously applied information.
In the process of a creation of own frequency data, ALLST∗R calculates the following biostatic reference data for any displayed population.

Research project "GeneCloud" awarded at the CeBIT
At this years CeBIT in Hannover the german BMWi anounced the 12 pilotproject winners of the Trusted Cloud research program 2011. Out of 110 suggestions from all sorts of fields, GeneCloud was declared the winner by an independant jury of experts.
A problem of many small and middle class enterprises in pharmaceutical industry are expotentially increasing costs for research and the resulting stagnant amount of new drugs in the market.
GeneCloud´s goal is the development of a secure high performance- Cloud-Computing-Software for pharmaceutical research.
"With the help of GeneCloud mainly small pharmaceutical enterprises get the chance to work with large quantities of safety-sensitive data in high-throughput. This reduces costs for research and enables quicker developmet of medication", says Dr. Frank Götz, Chairman of Qualitype AG. "We are always interested in realising promising and sustainable ideas."

Changes in the supervisory board
This years annual general meeting announced Prof. Dr. Gerhard P. Fettweis as member of the supervisory board of the Qualitype AG.
"With Prof. Dr. Gerhard P. Fettweis we won a most experienced scientist, businessman and networker", said Dr. Wilhelm Zorgiebel and Dr. Frank Götz - CEOs of the Qualitype AG.
After studying electrical engineering at the RWTH Aachen, Gerhard P. Fettweis graduated in 1990 on the area of the development of new integrated switches for fast communication of data. In the following years, among other things, he worked for famous IT-Enterprise IBM in San Jose. Since 1994 Prof. Dr. Fettweis holds the chair of the Vodafone professorship for mobile messaging systems at the Technische Universität Dresden. Many successful university start-up companies in Dresden, for example the Systemonic AG in 1999 (now NXP Semiconductors) and the Signalion AG in 2003, was founded by Prof. Dr. Gerhard P. Fettweis. For a long time he was the coordinator of the BMBF-Cluster Cool Silicon, a project of the competence network Silicon Saxony.
After long-standing excellent collaboration, Mr. Rolf Wolgast retired from his membership of the supervisory board of Qualitype AG. We are sincerely thankful for the work he has done and wish him all the best for the future.
Prof. Dr. Gerhard P. Fettweis becomes new chairman of the supervisory board.
Mr. Peter Schaffrath and Prof. Dr. Jörg Gabert were confirmed at their post and re-elected unanimously.

Upgrading to Version 2 of Qualiproof®
The QS-salmonellae database Qualiproof has been developed further with the Qualität und Sicherheit GmbH and is ready to use in optimized version 2.
The advanced web application Qualiproof 2 offers, together with all familiar functions, a multitude of new features. The main focus was placed on a higher versatility and improved performance for users of Qualiproof.
The User Interface is similar to a desktop application
By completely reengineering the UI, Qualiproof 2 is now operated more intuitively and noticeably more comfortable for day-to-day´s work.

23. ISFG Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Qualitype AG is looking forward to present you its newest product for the forensics and parentage testing sector on the 23. ISFG World Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The presentation will focus on the introduction of GenoProof® 2, the newest version of our renowned software, with which you can evaluate kinship analyses and population studies. Next to the calculation of new parameters such as the avuncular index and the extension of exiting functionalities, GenoProof® 2 will now also offer the possibility to analyze sequencer output data directly without any need for additional software.
Besides, we are proud to present you the Spanish version of GenoProof®Mixture 1.1. Both the user interface as well as the entire documentation will now be available in Spanish language, too.

CHRX-RESEARCH Database 2.0 online
We are glad to inform you that the new version of the CHRX-RESEARCH Database is now available under www.chrx-str.org The database has originated from the collaboration of the forensic ChrX research group and the Qualitype AG. The whole application is scientificly examined by the forensic ChrX research group.
This database covers many issues concerning the usage of X-chromosomal markers for forensic purpose. The goal of this page is to provide a database for ChrX STRs and ChrX STR haplotypes comprising population data published for some populations from several countries. Additionally, it is possible to submit own population data.

Now available! - GenoProof® Mixture 1.1
We are glad to inform you that the new version GenoProof® Mixture 1.1 is now available.
GenoProof® Mixture 1.1 is a complete solution for complex forensic DNA samples. It provides the analysis of forensic samples and complex DNA compositions range from raw data to biostatistic calculations.
The new functionalities of GenoProof® Mixture 1.1 include a new graphic component to display electropherograms. This allows a faster display of electropherograms and provides additional editing features.
In the reference data now stutter peak limits can be defined for markers as well as for each allele individually depending on the testkit. The new option "Direct Printing" allows the direct sending of the contents of an active element, such as electropherograms, samples summary or calculation, to the printer.
These and many other enhancements make GenoProof® Mixture 1.1 to an even more powerful analytical tool.
